THE DECLINE OF LOGOS IN THE SOUL

  • Slađana Ristić Gorgiev

Abstract

Orthodox thinkers put emphasis on personal liberty and responsibility and were less interested in the idea of the original sin. The fall was discussed more at the ontological than at the anthropological and psychological levels. They said that it was through Adam rather than Adam’s sin that death became part of the human race. People participated in Adam’s sin only if they supported it personally and if they supported Adam’s disobedience to God. Therefore, the decline of logos in a person results from personal rather than inherited guilt.
