ST. MAXIMUS THE CONFESSOR IN SERBIAN MEDIEVAL SPIRITUALITY
Abstract
The paper provides an overview of the presence of St. Maximus the
Confessor’s theological thought in Serbian medieval literature. Specific attention is paid to the
translations and transcriptions of his most important texts, while the reception of his theology
in Serbian medieval literature is also stressed. Particular emphasis is put on the presence of
his Christological texts in the context in which the Serbian rulers and Church attempted to
preserve the Orthodox faith.
