Abstract
Император је у римској традиционалној породичној и друштвеној
структури пронашао образац за уређење империје и за представљање своје улоге у њој.
Сада он, као патер фамилијас једне огромне породице и као њен првосвештеник, нема
разумевања за одступања од светих предачких вредности. Криза империје се решава
као и криза у патријархалној породици: ако не можеш вратити поданика на прави пут,
онда ћеш га одбацити.
